We took the top ten most widely held stocks for this study for the year 2008. The study
was conducted for $10,000 invested in each of the ten stocks for a total of $100,000.
Results
SmartStops exit preserved $39,264 more than Buy & Hold. The value of the SmartStops portfolio
at the end of 2008 was $97,633, a loss of only 2.4%. The value of the Buy & Hold portfolio
at the end of 2008 was far less at $58,369, a total loss of 42% of original value.
